Princess Jasmine Costume

I made this costume for a 4 year old for her birthday, several years ago. It was fairly simple though it looks complicated, it took half as long as I thought, things just seemed to come together, It is my idea of an Arabian princess (Jasmine) from Aldan. This was the pattern3626 Genie Costumes and the fabric ended up costing me very little, I got most of it in the sale pile. I put adjustable snaps on the shoulder straps and in multiple places on the back to accommodate a growing girl. The pants have elastic in the back as well as Velcro to open and close. I wanted it to easy for a child to put on an play in.

There is gold ric rack on the bodice and aqua braiding on the waist band and both on the lamp purse witch is included in the pattern. I added a gold thread and fancy stitch on the sheer overlay on the pants. It took forever and the thread broke a bunch of times, but it looks great. The gold strip is part of the sheer fabric I found in the bargain bin. It was perfect. The pant underlining is a fake silk and the waist is a heavy weave that I made sure to reinforce with stabilizer. All from the bargain bin. I am wishing I still had it to give to my little, guess I’ll have to make a new one and post more pics.
